What Are Your Go-To Book Genres?

What section do you raid first in a bookstore? And, which books are you most drawn to in that section? Marissa and Megan start off by tackling their most recent reads and then make some reading goals for the upcoming year. And then, together they jump into the specifics of which genres they grab for the most often.
Marissa and Megan start off this episode by discussing their most recent book-ish triumphs, including a brief review of each (although you can find a full review on our Instagram account). Marissa discusses Joan He's novel, The One's We're Meant to Find, Sailor Moon 10 by Naoko Takeuchi, and Lore Olympus by Rachel Smythe and Megan talks about Iron Widow by Xiran Jay Zhao, The Boy, The Mole, The Fox And The Horse by Charlie Mackesy, and We Met in December by Rosie Curtis. Afterwards, both Marissa and Megan make reading pledges for the upcoming year. And then, they dive into the topic.

The two bookworms discuss their more general go-to genres, including fantasy and young adult. Then, they deep dive into the more specific subgenres that they tend to navigate towards. From steampunk, fairy tales, mystery, and high fantasy to low and urban fantasy and cyberpunk, we're here to discuss the faves of all the genres.

The readers wrap it up with a discussion on what is up next on their TBR list and finish off by drawing their next topic from their book jar.
